Saturday 11th June 2016 was a very, very wet day in SE Qld, with thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and flash flooding. It was also Lauren & Cameron’s magical and amazing wedding day, and saw me travelling to Darlington to capture the special day of this great young couple! The drive to Worendo Cottages, 30 mins out of Beaudesert in the Lost World Valley and overlooking the Mountains of Lamington National Park, is stunning. The area is definitely a wedding photographer’s paradise. Arriving at the property it was as if the weather was a minor inconvenience. Everyone was in such high spirits, love and laughter abound, raincoats and umbrellas abundant, and even the fluffy black sheep stood stoically in the rain watching the days proceedings. The Worendo Cottages ooze country character. There are separate cottages for the girls at one end of the property, and the boys at the other, with a the stunning Queenslander sitting majestically in the middle. And the surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning!
The ceremony was to be held outside of the lower Cottage against the magnificent backdrop of Razorback Mt., but conditions meant that Plan A became Plan B, which ended up as Plan C!, and the set-up was moved onto the verandah of the beautiful old Queenslander. The area was dry, most importantly, but warm, cozy and intimate, and decorated to perfection by Kimmy and her band of helpers. Lauren and Cameron said their I Dos amongst their nearest and dearest in what was a beautiful ceremony made only more memorable by the weather. If rain on your wedding day brings good luck, Lauren & Cameron have an abundance coming their way!
As if on cue, the skies cleared for an hour or so, giving us time to do family photos and then jump in the 4WDs and head off in search of some beautiful locations for the bridal party photos. Everything looks so fresh and amazing after rain and we found some treasures!
Arriving back at the property, the party was in full swing. Food, drink and the most awesome live music (Pete & Nick) meant the night’s celebrations were well underway. Hilarious and heartfelt speeches, incorporating much laughter, singing and crazy dancing ensued! These guys know how to party! What a fabulous day which I loved being a part of 🙂
